"Us"
I'm about to finish "Us". This is the first painting with the human figure that I've done without any preparatoty pencil drawing. From the start I worked with a brush. The result is very interesting: The whole painting process has followed the movement of the brush from day one, versus adapting to the lines of a preparatory drawing. The unity of design, style, and technique are easier to achieve, because a natural brush-stroke pattern continues throughout the days of work. Color appears more pure and saturated, because the technique forces the painting to go from its lightest layers to its darkest, one degree at a time. This allows pure color to remain as such on the white canvas. I'll be done soon and will add "Us" to Nudes.
