1st Colored Pencil Portrait
After the eight charcoal drawings of the "gods," I wanted to do eight "portraits" in color.
I began the drawing with pastels, but immediately realized that the texture of the paper called for more detail, which only with colored pencils I can achieve. So most of the drawing is done with colored pencils.
I believe this one is my best drawing so far. I really like the technique that the thick watercolor paper forced me to develop (texture), and the richness of the colors. But what I'm very happy with is the portrait itself, what it is, the being that it becomes the more you look at it, and how mysteriously it looks back at me.
It's large (30" x 24"), so the picture in the site doesn't do justice to what it really is. It took me three weeks to do, so seven portraits ahead seem right now like a long journey.

I am seriously looking forward to see this painting in person. I remember seeing your large paintings before and they are truly overwhelming. Regardless, the result is magnificent anyway; I think that this is your most layered work so far, like a victorian box. I can literally stare at it over and over and peel away layers, endlessly. See you at Nikki's birthday!
Un abrazo enorme
